Course Description:

To enable the students know the purpose of the course, and help them gradually master all kinds of English listening skills through a planned training program and to understand the listening materials of different genres and subject matters

(1) To understand general classroom English and daily life expressions

(2) To understand and write the materials with learned language knowledge and similar to subjects of textbook within 15 minutes (about 120 words, four times, the first and the fourth reading with the speed of 80 words per minute and the second and the third reading paused with sense-group), to get the error rate of not more than 10%.

(3) To understand the easy listening materials of English speaking countries and the more familiar speeches or daily life conversations equivalent to leaned language knowledge by the people from English speaking countries, to understand the main content and the main idea, and to be able to identify the attitude and tone of speakers.

(4) To be able to understand the news and cultural programs of Special English of VOA, and to understand the main contents.

(5)To be able to listen and write the recording materials prepared or selected with the knowledge learned(about 120-150 words, four times, the first and the fourth reading with the speed of 80 words per minute and the second and the third reading paused with sense-group), to get the error rate of not more than 10%.
