Teaching Objective of the Course:
The course is the compulsory course for the undergraduate students of any major at sophomore year of International School and helps students to know the basic theories on Chinese and English translation in China and foreign countries, the basic differences between Chinese and English, and the basic ideas and basic rules of Chinese and English translation and master the basic characteristics of various common styles by introducing the similarities and differences between Chinese and English and the impact of different cultures of two languages on translation activities and the analysis of translation skills of various language units and of basic characteristics of various stylistical languages; further, it helps the students understand the levels of language units such as Chinese words, sentences and sentence groups by a large number of commentary of targeted examples and translation exercises, cultivates students' capacity of translating different styles and identifying the discourses. It also helps students master the translation techniques and translation capacities of Chinese words, long sentences and various common styles.
